Who WE ARE

                                                                                                          MISSION STATEMENT 

    AFRICAN HERITAGE WOMEN IN EDUCATION AND EMPOWERMENT (AHWEE) is a nonprofit organization that empowers women in all areas by creating a network that promotes equal access and opportunity to educational, social and economic advancement of women. It focuses on humanitarian services by using its platform to do meaningful work through voluntarism and collaboration with the wide range of agencies available to assist its structure in the accomplishment of its various endeavors and the achievement of its goals. 

Its mission is to connect women of African descent on the African continent and in the Diaspora to network, educate, empower, and develop initiatives that enhance the status and well-being of women and families by creating an empowering platform for synergetic collaborations.    

    The goal of its mission is to strategize and advance the status of women of African heritage to a position of responsibility by creating an arena within which they can work together, take action, and assist each other through a Pan–African Women Alliance. AHWEE is seeking to work with women around the world who share common goals.    

    It envisages a Pan –African Alliance in which women take their rightful place in society as home, community, and nation builders with equal opportunity and access in all areas to enhance life experiences. Its members include women of African descent and friends of Africa. It partners with men sensitive to women's issues as advocates, patrons, and board members. Its headquarters are located in Smithfield, Rhode Island, USA. AHWEE is committed to meeting its goals by establishing chapters worldwide to create a positive impact from the grassroots to every echelon of society.    

  

The objectives of AHWEE are to promote gender equality and human rights by the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women, which include reproductive rights 

  •  Empowerment of women of African heritage to take control of their bodies. 
  •     The elimination of violence against girls and women.   
  •     Provide role models that will assist them in taking ownership of he project they identify as essential or needed.    
  •      Foster the spirit of cooperation, philanthropy, collaboration and unity needed to form alliances with women of African heritage to accomplish their goals.   
  •  Challenge and encourage them to aspire to take up leadership positions in their respective fields locally, nationally and internationally   
  •      Engender a spirit of self-awareness, self-worth, confidence , and potential    
  •      Creating awareness for women in all positions for ethical conduct in every arena    
  •      Encourage communication, dialogue, and networking amongst members for self and group development.    
  •      Initiate support strategies that improve access to technology, education, economic, heath, legal, and political services.    
  •      Promote respect for the human rights and fundamental freedoms of all women of African heritage, which will enhance women's rights.   
  •     Unite support for engagement , self- help and voluntary work for the community.   


    The Organization’s actions involve:  

* Empowering communities across the continents. 


  •      Advocacy at the highest levels to influence change through meaningful, addressing critical societal challenges through targeting programs in rural Africa and American urban areas. 
  •  the provision of scholarship opportunities and educational programs to promote leadership, equality, and human rights for women and girl' development,t and the initiating and encouraging mentoring programs at all levels.    
  • Facilitating women's education, development, and other awareness programs towards unleashing their potential.   
  •   Supporting and advocating in all areas that promote financial independence and empowerment of women. As well as less fortunate families.    
  •     Facilitating service and volunteer programs by utilizing membership's expertise to support leadership initiatives in all communities.  
  • Implementing initiatives that enhance healthcare for vulnerable pregnant women and families. Such as, free clinics and maternity services, shelter services for the homeless, Food Pantry, Soup Kitchens, Cooperate Societal and Microfinance, and Multifunctional Agroforest systems for widows and families.
